Educational Systems Administrator

2 - Position Description
As an Educational Systems Administrator at the Brussels School of Governance (BSoG) of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), you will be part of the wider administrative team of the School, which consists of 20 enthusiastic colleagues.
The Educational Systems Administrator will work collaboratively with staff and students to provide technical and functional support for the School’s educational platforms. You will play a key role in administering, programming, and optimizing systems such as the Schools Learning Management System (i.e. Canvas), the Student Information Systems (i.e. Campus Solutions), and scheduling tools, while also ensuring accurate data entry.
A quick look at your work package:
- Provide support to both content developers and end-users (staff and students) of the LMS, SIS, and scheduling tools, and resolve any issues pertaining to registrations, grading, exams, data export, query development, etc.;
- Design queries to provide academic management with relevant data;
- Account management of the educational platforms;
- Manage the maintenance, development, and technical implementation of the different operating systems;
- Monitor and fine-tune functionalities so that it can be optimally used for different purposes;
- Provide technical support for the set-up of online activities in the context of externally funded projects (e.g. set-up of MOOCs).
- Provide assistance to staff for the input of content on the different platforms and databases, and ensure the quality and topicality are respected;
- Documentation of business processes.
For this function, our Campus in Etterbeek will serve as your home base.
3 - Profile
What do we expect from you?
- You have a Bachelor degree in a related field, or equivalent through experience;
- You have professional experience in an academic and/or international environment;
- You have a problem-solving and client-oriented attitude and can think out of the box while doing so;
- You have experience in working with e-learning tools (Canvas, Moodle, Blackboard, Connect or others);
- You have excellent organisational skills;
- Interdisciplinarity is considered an advantage.
- You can both work independently and as part of a team;
- You act on the basis of the codes of integrity, carefulness, objectivity, equal treatment, correctness, and transparency;
- You are proficient in English;
- Knowledge of Dutch is an asset.
